Rock & Roll 101

This was Claire's first lesson, and she did quite well. We started with a bit of assessment, for example, hearing and singing back pitch, singing along with me if I am on harmony, etc.

We also went over some simple breathing instructions, to get her used to the idea of not breathing in the middle of a phrase.

We sang through a song by Uncle Kracker, "Follow Me" to get an idea of breathing and phrasing.

I gave her homework of deep breathing with a book on her tummy, and singing through some half scales, using different vowel sounds.

I also asked her to practice singing Follow Me without breathing in the middle of words or sentences.
