Brandy, Ryan and Ben Snider

Past Notes

January 28th, 2014

Ryan and I sang through warm ups, including ear training for perfect 5ths, which she did remarkably well!!

We then finished with "Breathe," and she played the piano for me.

She's Awesome!

January 21st, 2014

Brandy was sick this week.

January 14th, 2014

Ryan and I warmed up, holding a long note was part of the warm ups, and she went for nearly 19 seconds on one.

We sang "Breathe" together, and worked on counting. She sounds so sweet!!

January 7th, 2014

Today Ryan and I spent some time on vocal warm ups, doing fun things like laugh excercises (ha ha ha, hee hee hee, ho ho ho) and vowel excercises.

We tried to find a song to learn, and settled on "Breathe" by Marie Barnett:

December 10th, 2013

Today Ryan and I recorded "Joy to the World," and I'll try to finish it up this week.

December 3rd, 2013

Brandy wasn't able to make it this week. I said I would do a make-up for her and the kids.

November 26th, 2013

Today we sang through scales, starting with Ahh, then Eee, then we talked a bit about "dipthongs," and how to sing "I" as "Ahhhhee."

We made up a song to practice singing real words "Fly Sky"

Then we sang Joy to the World, and Jingle Bells, then recorded Jingle Bells.

November 19th, 2013

We did scales at the beginning of the lesson, then spent some time on singing intervals using "Doh, Re, Me" and sang through "Joy to the World," and "Jingle Bells."

We talked about good posture, and breathing deeply, and did some exercises on this as well.

November 12th, 2013

Today we sang some simple vocal exercises to get an idea where the kids were at in the ability to hear notes and repeat them.

Overall the kids have good musical ears. They both tended to do better when emulating my singing voice than a played note on the piano. They also were usually able to sing the note in their own octave, even if I sang it in a lower octave, tho Ben was better in this respect.

We sang some Christmas songs, and kid's songs, with the guitar and the piano. I suggested Brandy buy the note program (it's on my iPad page.
