Clara Vowles
Past Notes
June 28th, 2022
This was Clara's last lesson.
We started with warm ups and exercises. We reviewed breathing, muscle control, diaphragm, and diphthongs.
We then sang through her two songs again... I tried to record one of them, but had trouble getting my sound card to work so we didn't have time to work it out.
Have a great summer! Maybe I'll see you again sometime!
June 21st, 2022
We did the same as last week with exercises and then singing the songs. We lowered Memories one more to D.
Clara said she's not coming back next year because she's moving to Kingston. Let me know if that changes, because I'm booking now.
One more week! My records could be wrong, but I have it as $120 for the rest of this year.

Clara wasn't able to come tonight because of a schedule conflict.

The first 20 minutes of the lesson were excercises, with added info on diphthongs. We talked about vowels and how to sing the double vowel words.
We then continued with Memories, but it's a bit low for her so we moved it up to the key of C.

We did warm ups again for the first half of the lesson, including vowel exercises, and then for the second half we went over last week's song, and then added a new one, Memories by Maroon 5:

The first half of the lesson we did vocal warm ups... we used Ahh, Oooo, and Eeee... we added the 5 note scale (doh, ray, me, fa, so) up and down this time as well.
We are working on Billie Eilish, Bad Guy in the second half of each lesson.
We talked about putting feeling into the words, so that they're not all the same sounding, but are interesting to the listener.

Great job tonight!
We chatted a bit at the beginning about what songs and styles of music Clara likes. She likes Billie Eilish, and pop songs... we listened to a couple and I had her sing along with them, so I could hear her sing some.
We then went to the piano and did some simple "doh ray me" notes starting on about middle C or D, and going up and going down from there, just three notes... up and down. We chromatically continued up the keyboard, until her top note was about an A or B, that's when her voice started to break.
Remember: good posture, don't lean, arms by the side, hands beside legs. Keep the wind pipe open and not bent, jaw relaxed.
Sing Ohs up and down, and then sing double doh ray mes on Ooo and Awww.
See you next week!
