Rock & Roll 101

We started by talking about the scale fingering (what I've called "magic fingering") which she'd kind of forgotten how to do. I showed her again, and asked her to work on it more and this time with both hands.

We then reviewed last week's song, "The First Noel," and she's coming along nicely. I told her that it should be completely ready for next week.

After that I wrote out Silent Night for her, as the next song to learn. It is in the key of G, so has one sharp - something new to get used to. We did the scale quickly in G, as well- to show her how the F sharp affects the scale. The D chord in the song has an F sharp in it as well.

We then ended the lesson by talking about inversions, and what they are. I showed her the inversions of C, and how using an inversion would impact playing The First Noel.
