I missed Aurora again today - is she coming back?

May 26th, 2016

Aurora may either have forgotten or is late today. :)

2016-04-28 00:00:00 John Mayer, Free Falling

We went over the Renegades song again- Aurora was so busy with school the last couple of weeks that she didn't have time to practice, but we relearned the finger picking part.

She said the other song we started two weeks ago by Bon Iver was too difficult for her at this time, so we looked at another one:

This is a fun song - we did it with the capo instead of open neck to make it easier to accomplish.

Aurora was sick today.

2016-04-14 00:00:00 Bon Iver, Holocene
2016-04-14 00:00:00 X Ambassadors, Renegades

We started out with learning the fingering and strumming pattern of X Ambassadors' Renegades:

This is a pretty straightforward song, so we had time to start another, Holocene by Bon Iver:

April 7th, 2016

Aurora emailed to say she had a lot of homework and wanted to forego lessons this week.

March 31st, 2016

We went through Photograph a few times, and then listened to a potential next song- Holocene by Bon Iver.

2016-03-10 01:00:00 Ed Sheeran, Photograph

We reviewed "Hello, I'm In Delaware," and Aurora was ready to move onto another song. We added an Ed Sheeran song, called Photograph:

March 3rd, 2016

Aurora has the first little tricky guitar lick down pretty well so we worked on the other one, that starts on the low G note.

She had some trouble with the hammer-on using her pinky / ring-fingers, so that will take some work. It's a combination of force, and directed energy to the right point on the fret.

February 25th, 2016

I missed Aurora today- hope everything is okay.

February 18th, 2016

I thought Aurora forgot, but she was just a bit late.

We continued with Hello, I'm In Delaware, and added the other lead part (that starts on the lower G).

We also talked about hammer-ons, used in speeding up the lead parts.

2016-02-11 01:00:00 City and Colour, Hello, I'm in Delaware

Aurora wanted to learn a new song this week, so we've moved to Dallas Green's Hello, I'm In Delaware:

February 4th, 2016

Aurora didn't make it tonight.

January 28th, 2016

Aurora has been super busy this week with exams etc., so didn't have a lot of time to practice, and also forgot her book, so we wrote out the chords again quickly on a piece of scrap paper.

We went over the song, and I think we added a new one, but I can't remember what it was now! I should have taken notes yesterday. :-/

See you next week!

Oh! I remembered one thing-- we worked on the Dminor / G chord that is in the bridge. It's challenging to play, and Aurora doesn't step down from a challenge!

2016-01-21 01:00:00 Waiting for the World to Change

It was fun to have Aurora today-- she's a talented young lady.

She showed me a bunch of chords she's already learned, and a Justin Bieber song she's been getting from YouTube.

We decided to do John Mayer's Waiting On the World to Change-- I showed her some chords and we worked through the way to play the intro-- we made a video as well to help her remember the subtleties of the parts.
