Jack forgot his booklet here.
We went through the chords to drill switching between a few, like G and Eminor, C and Aminor. He's still really slow on the switch.
We went through a few videos of songs with chords on them, and I think when he saw how fun it could be he was motivated to get faster with switching.

April 15th, 2024
Jack is still struggling quite a bit with changing chords. It can take him as long as 6 seconds to find a chord, which makes playing any song really impossible.
He promised he's going to work on his chords this week, maybe help him to remember to practise, and watch to see if he's actually switching between chords as quickly as he can.
I suggested he work mostly on G, C, D, and A this week.
April 8th, 2024
We went over the chords up until now, and then added two new ones, B7 and E7 - we didn't add more because he hasn't really got the old chords learned yet.
I encouraged him to spent a bit more time trying to memorize them so he can switch between them.
We then went over the chords in the song, and did some drills to time his speed in switching.
March 25th, 2024
Jack has a new guitar, and brought it with him today! I tuned it up for him.
We went through all the chords and added a bunch of others. So far I believe he knows:
A, A minor, C, D, D minor, E, E minor, F, G, and A7
We then went through the chords for Sweet Child of Mine.

Perhaps you guys aren't back from the March break yet? I missed seeing Jack tonight.

Jack still doesn't have a guitar, so hasn't been practicing at all. He also forgot his book today. He was actually able to remember a number of the chords we've been learning, although not always what name they were. We did some racing to improve his dexterity in getting to the cords, and then at the end of the lesson I showed him the e minor pentatonic scale.
February 12th, 2024
Jack still doesn't have a guitar, so hadn't practised the chords yet. We reviewed them a bit at the beginning of the lesson, and then I wrote out Sweet Child O' Mine in the key of D for him to work on.
This required an A chord to be added to the list.
Reminder: Next week is Family Day, and the following is my anniversary, so no lessons for the next two Mondays.
February 5th, 2024
Jack doesn't have a guitar yet, so not really able to practise, but we worked through the chords from last week, as well as the strumming, and added a couple of new ones. So far he has Em, G, Am, C, and D.
He would like to learn Sweet Child O' Mine as his first song, and we talked about learning it in a different key from the recording, just so he can play it with the chords he knows so far.
January 29th, 2024
This was Jack's first lesson, taking guitar. We learned three chords today: E minor, G, and A minor. We did drills to practise getting his hand in the correct position as quickly as possible, and did some strumming as well.
