Noah Lawson

Past Notes

November 20th, 2023

Noah was in fine form for singing today, and seemed quite animated! We just sang fun songs, and I didn't try to make it into a lesson at all.

Nathan tried drums, but something I said or did shut him down, and he wasn't willing to push past it. I don't know his specific issue, but I've seen this kind of behaviour in kids before, and it often comes from feeling like if they make a mistake or aren't good at something, their self esteem will crash. It's important to teach kids that their self esteem should be based on how hard they work not how naturally gifted they are.

We'll try again next week! (Or maybe Chelsea will give it a go!)

November 13th, 2023

We started with singing Jingle Bells, but Noah lost interest after that.
His brother was a bit interested in piano and drums, so we took up the rest of the lesson with him doing a bit on that.

November 6th, 2023

Noah has pink eye so won't be coming tonight.

October 30th, 2023

We had some challenges getting Noah to participate this week. He did sing a song for me, called "I Love My Body," which is on YouTube here:

I recorded him singing it (although I couldn't get my system to record properly tonight).

October 16th, 2023

Noah isn't able to come tonight, as he's struggling with his asthma.

October 2nd, 2023

Noah wasn't in the mood to sing tonight. i tried to interest him in drums a bit, and to just distract him from mommy, but he was having none of it! :)
Next week is a holiday, so see you in two weeks! Come check our church out if you want- it's really fun.

September 25th, 2023

Noah and I sang some vowels and scales at the piano, and then did a few kid's songs. He tired as went, and at the end wanted to do "Elsa," from Frozen.

We ended with that.

September 18th, 2023

Noah is not able to make his lesson tonight because he's feeling unwell.

September 11th, 2023

This was Noah's first week! What a sweetie! So cute. :)
I sang with him at the piano a bit to see how his ear is for hearing notes and singing them back. He did struggle a bit with that, and his mom told me that he has some hearing issues.
We went to the computer, and sang through three or four songs by Disney that he loves, and then we went to the piano and sang some children's songs like Down by the Bay, Twinkle Twinkle, Ba Baa Black Sheep, etc.

He actually did the best with those. His range is limited, but we'll focus on building it up a bit at a time and see how things go!
