Braden said he wouldn't be making lessons today.

Braden was feeling a little overwhelmed and stressed, so we started at the beginning, and went through everything we've learned so far, ending with the new song.

The new song has a harder beat to the kick, because of the extra kick on the "and of 2." When he plays it without a hi hat, it's fine, but harder with the hat. Just keep working at it, he's doing fine!

We went over Say It Ain't So by Weezer again - Hunting and sick this week so not as much practice as normal - work hard this week, try to get the fills on your own, keep working on all the hard parts, like adding hi hat and ride and evenness etc.

I wrote out the part for him (please have him bring a book so all his notes can be in one place).

It's a bit challenging to add the ride in. When he's working on it at home, have him slow it down so he can think about where each beat goes.

He did well, we focused mostly on the triplet part, which is really hard; we then decided to add another song to work on:

Braden did awesome on Back in Black! Really good practicing, or he's just a natural. Amazing!

So this week, we moved on to another song, Seven Nation Army, by Jack White. This is a drum cover of it, that's pretty easy:

With only one cymbal, you have to be a bit creative in making it sound like two cymbals.

Tom toms on 4, and on 3 and 4, then also switching between them every-other-time,
We also added crash on 1s.
We did the side shot, where you lay the bottom of the stick on the snare.

Braden did fantastic today! Really nailed the 4ter note and 8th note beats.

We added crash on 1, toms on 4, then 3, 4, then 2,3,4.

Do crash every 8 instead of every 4 when you get good at it.
